Phang Nga Bay Yacht Charter from Phuket 2026/27: Private Boats from ฿33,900

Horizon Cruises Phuket > Articles > Phang Nga Bay Yacht Charter from Phuket 2026/27: Private Boats from ฿33,900

A Phang Nga Bay yacht charter from Phuket costs from ฿33,900 for the whole boat with Horizon Cruises Phuket: five hours to James Bond Island on the Ocean Pearl 42 from Ao Po Grand Marina, ten guests in the rate; a full day starts at ฿37,900 on a speedboat from Chalong. The bay is sheltered and sails all year, the 2026/27 season included. Write to us on WhatsApp with your date and headcount.

Key highlights

  • Ao Po Grand Marina is the departure point to count from: Koh Hong is 18 km away against 48 km from Chalong, so a yacht from the north-east is among the limestone within half an hour.
  • More than fifty of the around 80 boats in the catalogue publish a Phang Nga Bay route, from a long-tail for eight to the Pisces 85 power catamaran for eighty-five.
  • Every rate is per boat with captain and crew; the Ao Phang Nga marine park fee is paid separately per person on arrival, and because the parks revise their rates from time to time we confirm the current figure with your quote.
  • The lagoon inside Koh Hong opens on a mid tide and takes only inflatable canoes, so the tide, not the clock, sets the order of the day.
  • Horizon Cruises Phuket holds 5.0 from 33 reviews on Google.

Why a Phang Nga Bay private boat tour usually starts at Ao Po, not Chalong

Phuket, Thailand, has four charter marinas and they do not serve the same islands. Ao Po Grand Marina on the north-east coast opens straight onto the bay, has no tidal window and sits conveniently half an hour from the airport, which is why a Phuket private boat charter into the limestone normally starts there; our Ao Po Grand Marina yacht charter guide covers the drive and the yachts based there. Royal Phuket Marina and Boat Lagoon on the east coast reach the bay through a tidal channel. From Chalong Pier in the south the run to Hong is nearly three times as long, so the southern hulls sell the bay only as a full day of seven to nine hours; Koh Panyee, the stilt village about 12 km beyond Hong, is the furthest stop of that day.

Twelve of the boats whose price list names the bay: the yachts Horizon Cruises Phuket charters there most often, plus the cheapest speedboat, power catamaran and sailing catamaran, with the lowest full-day bay rate from each one's page (the Astondoa and the Galeon quote one day rate for every route):

Beluga 88 is one of our three yachts; the other eleven are boats we offer from the catalogue. Prices are per boat, not per guest: the rate covers the group up to the headcount shown on each yacht's page, and each guest above it is charged per head at the card's figure, from ฿800 on the Ocean Pearl to ฿3,000 on Beluga 88; where a yacht has seasons the figure above is the low-season rate. Lunch is in the full-day rate on most of them; the Ocean Pearl lists a restaurant lunch separately, and on the AQVA guests bring food and drinks themselves. Above fifty guests, the Indigo 53 Super Mario on the power catamaran charter in Phuket page sells the bay from Chalong at ฿84,900 with fifteen in the rate, up to fifty-five.

Some yachts do not sell half days or sunset cruises in the peak period; the rate table on each one's page settles it. Half days reach the bay from Ao Po, Boat Lagoon and Royal Phuket Marina only. For a night at anchor, the Pina Colada 40 publishes two days and one night from ฿100,000 without naming a route, the Siam Princess 70 is the cheapest motor yacht overnight from ฿150,000, and the overnight yacht charter page lists the cabins.

Itinerary: Phang Nga Bay and James Bond Island, Koh Hong, Koh Panak, Koh Panyee

The usual order out of Ao Po is James Bond Island first, then Hong, Panak and the Naka islands on the way home, but the tide decides the middle of the day. The island is Khao Phing Kan with the Ko Tapu rock standing in the water in front of it, the view the bay is known for and the one the group tours queue for at midday; a private boat gets there before or after them. Its fame dates from The Man with the Golden Gun, the Bond film shot here in 1974 with Roger Moore, and the James Bond Island page tells that story; the landing is on the beach next door, with the iconic pillar behind you in the photograph. Panak is a cave island with the sharpest limestone shapes in the bay, a cavern the canoes paddle into when the level allows. Panyee, the fishing village on stilts, is the charm of the afternoon and the place to eat ashore if the group wants a restaurant rather than lunch on board.

A full day leaves at 09:00, takes the rock while the beach is still quiet, moves to the Hong lagoon at the mid-tide hour, anchors for lunch around 12:30, gives the afternoon to Panak and Naka and is alongside around 17:00; a half day keeps the first two stops. The Astrea 42, the Myra, the Lagoon 56 OO7, the Azimut Atlantis 50 and the SPLO 74 sell Hong and James Bond Island as one programme; on most others the rock goes into a Koh Hong day as a route change agreed at booking. The combined day, boat by boat, is in the guide to James Bond Island and Koh Hong by private boat from Phuket.

Koh Hong's hidden lagoons: the canoe and the tide

Koh Hong is a ring of limestone cliffs with lagoons inside it, hongs, rooms in Thai, and nothing with an engine goes in. The crew hires inflatable canoes on the spot, two guests in front and a local paddler behind, for a circuit of 40 minutes to an hour, and the visit needs a mid tide: at one end of the tide there is too little depth to float a canoe, at the other too little headroom under the rock. The window shifts by roughly fifty minutes a day, so the captain reads the tide table for your date and moves the Hong stop around it. Koh Hong in Krabi is a different island 25 km away, in another province and national park, whose hong admits a speedboat at high tide. This one has a separate page: Koh Hong in Phang Nga Bay.

Island hopping around Phang Nga Bay: Koh Yao and the Naka islands

The bay is a field of limestone karsts standing in emerald waters, screened from the open Andaman Sea by hundreds of islands, so island hopping here means short hops on a flat sea rather than crossings; the islands of the brochures are, on the chart, a sheltered corner of Phang Nga province. Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi, the two inhabited islands in the middle of the bay, are half an hour from Ao Po on a motor yacht and fit a half day; the Pina Colada 40 sails to Koh Yao Yai and Naka Noi for five hours from ฿35,000. The cleanest beaches are on the east side, the kayaking runs along mangrove channels, and the villages keep their traditions, so guests dress modestly away from the beach. The Naka islands are the swimming and jet-ski stop on the bay routes of the Cranchi 58 Scenery and the Astondoa.

Pick the boat and explore: private speedboat, catamaran, motor yacht or a luxury cruise

The bay is sheltered, so a slower hull is no disadvantage; the choice comes down to deck space, shade and headcount rather than speed. A private speedboat suits a couple or a family that wants Hong, Panak and Panyee and an early return: the AQVA 37 for up to twelve is the cheapest full day in the table, and nine speedboats publish the bay, two from Chalong, six from Boat Lagoon from ฿54,900 on the Limpopo Axopar 28 with its fuel fee, and the Nimbus T11 from Royal Phuket Marina, all on the speedboat charter in Phuket page. For up to twenty the Ocean Pearl, cruising at 30 knots, is the cheapest and quickest yacht, and the F1 the catamaran with the most deck for the money. The Pina Colada 40 is the slow option under sail, at 7 knots. The Siam Princess is the large-group vessel, fifty aboard at 10 knots. The Cranchi Scenery, the Princess 65 and the Riva Aria Blue are the mid-size motor yachts with cabins and a saloon for lunch inside, kayaks aboard on their Phang Nga routes. At the top, the Beluga and the Astondoa belong to the luxury yacht charter in Phuket end of the catalogue, and the Pisces 85 offers a bay day from 11:00 to 19:00 for a party of up to eighty-five, with a sunset cruise back to Ao Po.

What is in the rate and what is paid on the day

In the rate on every yacht we offer:

  • Captain and crew; every charter is skippered and guests need no licence
  • Fuel for the agreed route, except where a yacht's page lists a fuel fee
  • Passenger insurance
  • Water and soft drinks, fruit, ice, tea and coffee
  • Snorkelling gear, life jackets in adult and child sizes, and towels

Paid separately:

  • The Ao Phang Nga park fee, cash on the day per person, except where the yacht's page lists it in the rate, as the Leopard 47 Myra and the SPLO 74 family rate do
  • The hotel transfer where the yacht's page does not include it
  • Canoe hire at Hong, except on the Astondoa, whose page lists the kayak fee among its inclusions
  • Lunch where it is not included, alcohol, fishing gear and water toys, all of which depend on the yacht
  • Guests above the number the rate covers, and hours beyond the programme

The fuel exceptions on this route are the Limpopo Axopar 28 and the Boat Lagoon power catamarans, whose pages publish a fuel fee of ฿10,000 for the Phang Nga day, already inside the figures here; the full breakdown is on the what is included page. Bring a hat, sunscreen, swimwear under your clothes and cash in baht for the park fee and the canoe.

A private yacht charter or a shared James Bond Island boat tour

A shared James Bond tour from Phuket runs to a timetable and reaches the rock when every other boat does. A private boat tour is a different tour with the same islands: the boat waits for you. You choose when to leave, how long to stay at the rock, whether the group paddles into the lagoons or watches from the deck, and where lunch is; the privacy is the other half of it, with nobody else aboard. For a tourist with one photograph in mind, a seat on a group tour does the job; the private day earns its price when the day matters more than the picture, and for a traveller sharing one hull with friends the per-boat rate is the easier sum to split.

Seasons and weather in a sheltered corner of Thailand's Andaman Sea

Low season, May to October, carries the starting rates in the tables; high season runs November to April. Peak dates differ by yacht, from mid-December into January or February, and are shown on each yacht's page. The sea is calmest from November to April, but this is the destination that keeps running in the rainy months: low-season days in the bay go ahead in conditions that would close the open-water routes to Phi Phi and Racha. In poor weather the captain has the final word on the route and we offer alternative cruising grounds, not a refund.

Booking a yacht rental in Phuket with a licensed boat charter company

Horizon Cruises Phuket has run private boat charters from Phuket since 2013 under TAT licence 34/02188, with an office in Chalong and support in English and Russian; for many guests this is their first Thailand yacht charter, and the managers who answer are passionate about Phuket and its bay. Booking is by WhatsApp or email, answered around the clock, on WhatsApp within ten minutes. Each day is tailored to the group: send the headcount, the hotel and whether the lagoon or the rock matters more, and we come back with the yachts free on that date and one final figure in Thai baht before anything is paid. Most take a deposit of half the charter price with the balance before departure; some are paid in full at booking; late cancellation is non-refundable, and the exact terms are on each yacht's page and the terms page. Starting rates for every boat rental in the catalogue, by type, are on the yacht charter prices in Phuket page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Phang Nga Bay yacht charter from Phuket cost?

The five-hour run to James Bond Island on the Ocean Pearl is the cheapest format, the seven-hour AQVA day from Chalong the cheapest full day, and the eight-hour Ocean Pearl day the cheapest on a yacht. Mid-size motor yachts run from ฿125,000, Beluga 88 is ฿214,000 and the Astondoa ฿390,000, every figure for the whole boat in Thai baht, with the park fee and any lunch not included on top.

Where do Phang Nga Bay yacht charters depart from in Phuket?

Most leave from Ao Po Grand Marina on the north-east coast, the closest marina to the bay and to the airport, or from Boat Lagoon and Royal Phuket Marina on the east coast. The Chalong boats, among them the AQVA 37 and the Kiri, and Say Yes and Sofia, which sell Koh Hong and Naka as a nine-hour day, make the longer run from the south. Arrive fifteen minutes before departure.

Is James Bond Island in Phang Nga Bay?

Yes. James Bond Island is the tourist name for Khao Phing Kan and the Ko Tapu rock beside it, inside Ao Phang Nga National Park, and the Bond film shot there gave it the name. It is the first stop on the usual itinerary and never the only one; Hong, Panak and Panyee fill the rest of the day.

Can I do the trip as a half day?

Yes, from the north-east and east coasts. The Ocean Pearl sells five hours to James Bond Island, the Prada 50 five hours to Hong and Koh Yao, and Beluga 88 four hours to Hong and Naka, all from Ao Po; the Axopar 37 Lila from Boat Lagoon and the SUAY and the Princess V39 from Royal Phuket Marina reach Hong in five hours.

Can we swim, snorkel or kayak during the day?

Swimming off the boat, yes, wherever the captain stops. Snorkelling gear is aboard every yacht, but the bay is a sightseeing day of cliffs and lagoons rather than a reef day; Racha and Phi Phi are the snorkelling days from Phuket. The paddling is the canoe circuit inside Koh Hong, hired at the island when the tide is right, and several motor yachts carry kayaks on their Phang Nga routes.

Can I charter a yacht overnight in Phang Nga Bay?

Yes. The Leopard 47 Myra publishes the lowest two-day rate that names the bay and the Siam Princess 70 the lowest on a motor yacht, both in the format table above, and the overnight guest count on each yacht's page shows which others sleep guests aboard. The night is spent at anchor in the bay.

Is a Phang Nga Bay yacht charter from Phuket worth it, and is it safe?

It is the one island day from Phuket that does not depend on the open sea, which makes it the safe choice for a date that cannot move, for families and for first-time boaters, and a memorable experience for guests who have seen the beaches already. Every charter has a licensed captain and crew, passenger insurance and life jackets, and at the islands the yacht lies on a mooring buoy or the anchor, never on coral.

Does a Phang Nga Bay yacht charter from Phuket require a passport?

Bring it. At Chalong Pier the captain handles the passenger registration and guests hand their passports to the crew; at Ao Po the passport goes on the passenger list the captain files. No visa question arises on the boat: the bay is Thai water, and the charter returns to the pier it left from.
