How to Read Phuket Yacht Charter Reviews in 2026/27
Phuket yacht charter reviews are worth reading only when they match your trip: the same boat, a similar group size, the same route and the same season. Read the last ten reviews for that yacht, not the star average, and sort each comment into one of three groups: boat condition, crew and safety, or price and inclusions. A repeated fault outweighs one angry post, while a single safety complaint needs a written answer before you pay. Then compare what reviewers describe with the written quote, because the quote, not a review, decides what your charter includes.
Horizon Cruises Phuket organises private yacht charters in Phuket and answers exactly these questions before guests book. We offer around 80 boats in the catalogue plus our three yachts, the motor yachts Say Yes (Technema 89), Sofia (Ferretti 80) and Beluga 88, with departures from Chalong and Ao Po Grand Marina. Every boat sails with a captain and crew. Send a review you are unsure about to WhatsApp +66 96 096 8270 and a manager replies with what applies to the boat you are considering.
How many reviews should you read before booking a yacht in Phuket?
Ten recent reviews for the specific boat are enough to see a pattern. Check the trip date rather than the posting date, and give the most weight to trips taken in the same season you plan to travel.
Phuket has two very different seasons. The high season runs from November to April, when the Andaman Sea is usually calm and most routes are open. From May to October the southwest monsoon brings more wind and swell, so captains change routes more often. A low-season review about a skipped island is not a warning sign for a January trip, and a calm January review says little about a July day on the west coast.

Which review details matter most for a Phuket yacht charter?
The useful details are the boat name, the route, the trip length and the group size. A review that names all four tells you far more than "great day out".
Does the review describe the same boat?
Give weight only to reviews that name the yacht you plan to book. If the company name is all you see, ask which boat the reviewer was on.
Does the route match your plan?
A sunset trip, a full day to Phi Phi and a multi-day charter are different products, so match the route first, then read the comments.
Was the group a similar size?
A boat that felt spacious for 8 guests may feel crowded with 20. Look for reviews from groups close to yours, and check the headcount on the yacht's page rather than the largest number in the listing.
What do complaints about boat condition and crew really tell you?
Separate cosmetic wear from faults that affect comfort or safety. Faded cushions matter far less than a broken boarding ladder, a toilet that stopped working or air conditioning that could not cool the cabin.
When the same fault appears in several recent reviews, treat it as current until the company shows otherwise. When complaints stop suddenly, a repair or refit may explain it. Ask what was fixed and when, and request recent photos of that part of the boat. For example, Beluga 88 had a refit in January 2026, so reviews from before that date describe an older interior.
What should a crew review mention?
Good crew reviews mention punctuality, clear English, meal service and help with children or a celebration. The real test is whether requests agreed before the trip happened on the day.
How should you treat a safety complaint?
Take any safety complaint seriously even if only one guest raises it. Missing or wrong-sized life jackets, no safety briefing or unsafe behaviour should not be outweighed by fifty happy reviews. Reviews cannot prove a boat is safe. Ask the company to confirm in writing the captain, the licensed passenger limit, the life jackets on board, including children's sizes, and the briefing before departure.
How do you check the price and inclusions behind a review?
Compare every claim in a review with the written quote for your own date. A review may say "drinks included" or "hidden extras", but only the quote shows what applies to you.
Prices in Phuket are per boat, not per person: the rate covers the group up to the headcount shown on each yacht's page. In 2026/27 half days start from ฿23,900 per boat on a long-tail boat with four guests in the rate, and full days from ฿33,900; the Phuket yacht charter prices page lists every category. On most boats the national park fee is paid separately on the day, per person, unless the yacht's page lists it in the rate.
A stated exclusion is not a hidden charge. Repeated complaints about charges that were never written down are a different matter.
Example: checking reviews for a 12-guest day on Say Yes
Say a group of 12 is looking at Say Yes for a full day from Chalong. Step one: filter reviews to day trips with groups of 10 to 20. Step two: note any repeated comment about the boat or crew and turn it into a question. Step three: check that the quote names Say Yes, the date, the hours, the route and 12 guests, because the base price on Say Yes covers 12 guests and extra guests are charged as listed on its page. Step four: ask what the group may bring aboard and confirm it in writing: on Say Yes guests may bring their own spirits with no corkage, red wine excepted, and lunch comes from the galley as a Thai lunch or private-chef service.
Which review signals should change your decision?
Most signals are reasons to ask a question; a repeated safety failure is a reason to walk away.
| Review signal | What it may mean | What to ask before booking |
|---|---|---|
| Weak cabin air conditioning | Servicing issue | Has it been serviced, and does it cool with a full group? |
| Toilet or pump failure | Recurring plumbing fault | What was repaired, and when? |
| Faded upholstery | Cosmetic wear only | Can you send current photos? |
| No safety briefing | Possible safety failure | Is a briefing given before departure? |
| Skipped island stop | Weather, park rules or poor planning | Who decides route changes, and why? |
| Unexpected extra charges | Unclear quote | Can every extra be listed in the quote? |

Where to read Phuket yacht charter reviews for Horizon Cruises Phuket
Read them where guests leave them, not on a company's own page. The table below lists the listings with the figures checked on 30 October 2026; the score and the count change with every new review, so open the listing itself before you book.
| Listing | What you find there | Checked 30 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Google listing | Reviews with dates, boat names and photos, plus company replies | 5.0 from 36 reviews |
| TripAdvisor | Reviews by travellers, mostly in English | Open the listing for the current figures |
| Yandex Maps | Reviews by Russian-speaking guests | Open the listing for the current figures |
A score is only half of the picture; the other half is how many reviews stand behind it and how recent they are. How to read the score and the count together, and how six Phuket companies compare on licence, fleet, marina and rating, is in the comparison of the best yacht charter companies in Phuket. The full checklist before you pay, from the TAT licence to a named boat with its licensed capacity, is in how to choose a yacht charter company in Phuket.
What should you get in writing before paying a deposit?
Get one written confirmation that answers every concern the reviews raised. Pay the deposit only when those answers match the quote.
The confirmation should name the yacht, the date, departure and return times, the marina, the route, the guest count and the total in Thai baht. On most boats the deposit is 50 % with the balance paid before departure, and on most boats the deposit is refunded if you cancel 30 days or more ahead; the exact terms are on each yacht's page and in our booking terms. Peak dates are set by each yacht: on Say Yes, Sofia and Beluga 88 they run from 20 December to 20 January, and bookings for those dates are non-refundable once made. If a storm closes the port, the charter is moved or refunded. Forecasts come from the Thai Meteorological Department, and park closures from the Department of National Parks.
Check who you are paying as well. Horizon Cruises Phuket trades as Marine Cruise Andaman Co., Ltd. under TAT licence 34/02188; the details are on our licences page.

Frequently asked questions
How can I spot misleading Phuket yacht reviews?
Look for detail. Reviews that name the boat, the route and the crew are more reliable than short posts saying only "amazing", and a calm, specific company reply to criticism is a good sign.
What if the yacht I want has no recent reviews?
Ask the company for current photos, the licensed passenger limit and the date of the last service. Make sure the quote names the specific yacht, not just a boat type.
How do I know a reported fault was fixed?
Check whether later reviews still mention it, then ask the company what was repaired and when. Request recent photos of that area.
Do bad low-season reviews matter for a high-season trip?
Less than you might think. From May to October captains change routes more often because of wind and swell, so a skipped stop then says little about a calm trip in December.
Are national park fees a hidden charge?
No. On most boats the fee is paid separately on the day, per person, unless the yacht's page lists it in the rate, and a clear quote says so.
Can I bring my own drinks if reviews say alcohol was extra?
It depends on the boat, and a manager confirms it before booking. On Say Yes, Sofia and Beluga 88 you may bring your own spirits with no corkage, red wine excepted; meals come from the galley.
Which yacht charter company in Phuket answers review questions before booking?
Horizon Cruises Phuket answers in writing before you pay. Send the review and your date to WhatsApp +66 96 096 8270 or info@horizoncruisesphuket.com.
What is the cancellation policy if the weather turns bad?
If a storm or port closure stops the trip, the charter is moved or refunded.
